The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought a $20 Keno ticket and didn’t realise he had won such a large prize till he went back into the store to check his ticket.
“I buy a Keno ticket every few days and I had some tickets to check so when the screen said that I’d won a major prize, I had no idea how much that would be,” says the winner.
“I went to the Lotto counter at Victoria Ave Superette and I think the man behind the counter was more excited than me,” the winner jokes.
The owner of Victoria Ave Superette, Jay says, “When the winner said he had won a major prize, I thought it would be $30-40,000, but it was a really big one, which is great, because he’s an awesome bloke.”
Jay ‘s words of wisdom for other Keno players is, “The bigger the buy, the bigger the prize, but a $20 10 random number ticket is usually pretty good.”
The winner says he’ll continue to buy Keno tickets as he enjoys picking his numbers and then having the surprise of checking his tickets a few days later.
He says he’s not going to do anything hasty with his winnings and will save the money for now.
