Winning Wheel gives all Lotto players a second chance to win big every week!
The first Winning Wheel spin was 21 August 2004 - the lucky spinner from Morrinsville won $250,000.
Every Lotto ticket has a serial number at the end of the ticket. This is your Winning Wheel serial number.
Each week on the live Lotto draw one serial number is randomly drawn. On special occasions we may draw more than one serial number. When the Winning Wheel serial number is announced on the live Lotto draw, the last two digits will be hidden with XX. This is done for security reasons. If the rest of your serial number matches the serial number drawn, you're a Winning Wheel winner!
If you live outside Wellington, NZ Lotteries will pay for you and a nominated support person to fly to Wellington to appear on the live Lotto draw to spin the Winning Wheel. Every Winning Wheel winner and their support person will stay in a luxury hotel in Wellington for two nights, all meals included.
On the Saturday night of your stay you will spin the Winning Wheel on the live Lotto draw and you are guaranteed to walk away with one of the 30 great prizes the Winning Wheel has to offer.
If you don't wish to appear on the live Lotto draw to spin the Winning Wheel, you can nominate someone to appear on your behalf or you can choose instead to receive $25,000.
What can I win on the wheel?
There are 30 segments on the Winning Wheel containing both cash and non-cash prizes worth $6 million in total and every prize is fantastic. The minimum cash prize you can win is $100,000 and prizes range up to a whopping $1 million.
As well as cash prizes ranging from $100,000 up to $1 million, you could also win great non-cash prizes such as a luxury car, round the world travel and a credit card loaded with cash.
What ticket do I need to buy to win?
Any Lotto ticket! Whether you have a dip ticket or choose your own numbers, every Lotto ticket Winning Wheel serial number has an equal chance of being drawn, regardless of whether the ticket also wins a Lotto division prize or not.
If you play Lotto Strike, the separate Strike ticket does not have a Winning Wheel serial number and therefore does not go in the draw for the Winning Wheel.
Does it cost extra to go into the Winning Wheel draw?
No, every Lotto ticket automatically gives you entry into the Winning Wheel draw.
Is there a Winning Wheel draw every week?
Yes. The Winning Wheel is a permanent part of the live Lotto draw. So every week at least one lucky ticket holder will be given the opportunity to fly to Wellington and spin the Winning Wheel for a great prize.
What happens with the Winning Wheel video that is shown on the draw?
The team at NZ Lotteries will arrange a date and time that suits you to film your profile to give the audience a glimpse of your life, and also to showcase a Lottery grant recipient and/or a retailer from your community.
What happens if I am unable to attend the draw and I can't find someone to spin on my behalf?
You will receive $25,000.
