The Big Wednesday draw is filmed at Avalon Studios in Lower Hutt, and broadcast every Wednesday night at approximately 8.20pm on TV1. The Big Wednesday draw is presented each week by either Sonia Gray or Marshall Smith.
Every Wednesday night, six balls are drawn from a possible 50 from the Big Wednesday ball machine. A coin is also flipped via a random number generator to determine heads or tails. The head or tail is shown on an animated screen on the Big Wednesday draw.
The Big Wednesday draw is fully scrutineered by Audit New Zealand and the draw procedures are approved by the Department of Internal Affairs.
